Marvellous Mondays No.2

This week I'd like to feature the adorable work created by artist Emmeline Pidgen. I came across Emmeline's work just over a month ago and I've been glued to her wonderful blog ever since!

Her work has such a wonderful dreamlike quality to it, and her colourful characters never fail to leave a smile on my face. She has also illustrated a gorgeous children's book called 'Sylvester and the New Year', which is chuck full of this lady's wonderful artistic talent! I'm planning on buying it for my niece this Christmas, who's also a wannabe illustrator :)

I love goache

I have been experimenting a lot with my new found medium, gouache, its just like watercolour but so much better and you can cover over mistakes, always a plus!

But I love ALOT of mediums.

Marvellous Mondays!

Hey everyone! It brings me great pleasure to say that I will now have monday's off every week to work on my business! Yay!!

To celebrate I've decided to do a feature every Monday of an artist or crafter that I admire, we shall call this 'Marvellous Mondays!'

This week I would like to feature Holly Exley.

Holly creates the most amazing and unique watercolour illustrations, I particularly like the way she captures the skin tones and facial expressions in her people portraits. She has also recently been creating a lot of paintings based on food, with so much texture and a great level of detail. She is a big inspiration for my art work!

Also I really think the first one looks like Prince William?!

Playing with Gouache in the sun!

First of all I'd just like to ask how everyone is coping in this british heat wave?

Its sooo hot, I'm finding it really hard to concentrate on the only two days I get to work on my business at home, just hate working inside when its so glorious out there, and the heat is just making me so lazy and urghhhhh....

Anyway here are some paintings that I worked on today, using gouache, a medium that i've really fell in love with, and I only started using it yesterday! Its like an opaque watercolour. So cool.

Prepare for more experimentations like this.

Introducing the T-800...

Made this for my boyfriend as he's such a huuuuge Terminator fan. It's made in prisma colour and faber castell pencils. It took around 12 hours to finish.

My belated fathers day present

For father's day I made my dad a portrait of the house he built with his own two hands. It is painted in watercolours and gouache.

Thinking of listing some commissioned ones in my little shop? whatcha think?

Rainbows in watercolours

I have been experiencing with my little palette of watercolours recently, and I've been trying some different, more expressive styles, especially with colours. I just love rainbows.

What do you think?
